Life By Design

Well folks, we are in the midst of another 30-Day Life By Design Challenge.

Going into every challenge I still get excited. It is great talking to the people at the gym, the office and across the world in cyber space that are gearing up to take on a new challenge for the 30 days.

One thing that struck me this time around is how many people were serious veterans to the challenge. Dr. Jamie’s “I’m in...again” comment could have applied to so many of the great people in our community, who get stoked to participate every time we run these challenges.

Prior to the challenge, I was training at the gym and coach Aaron asked me what I was going to focus on this time. I was not sure yet. I stopped to think and ran through a surprisingly long list in my head of things that I could still be better at.

Here are a few:

  • Consistency with my power hour.
  • Consistency with daily learning and reading.
  • Tightening up on my food quality. Eating only pastured meats is something I am getting better at, but still not perfect.
  • Less sugar; and by sugar I mean dark chocolate.
  • Daily mobility.
  • Daily journaling.
  • Daily review of my values and goals.
  • Getting to the office early and reading Chiropractic literature. Whenever I do this I have such great and inspired days.
  • More metabolic conditioning. Somehow I always magically run out of time after I do my heavy lifting.

The best thing about being asked that question, about what I was going to be working on, was the assumption that I have more things to work on.  Sometimes people who are new to the Life By Design community will ask me questions like “Do you ever eat off track?” or “Do you get your spine checked every week?”

Some people think that because we are the Life By Design Doctors and coaches that somehow we have this all down 100%.

We do not. Every one of us still works at being better at all of the Life By Design steps.

Power By Design is the only step that I have down almost as well as I want to.

It is the easiest one.

I show up once a week for my check up and one of the amazing Chiropractors I know turns my power on.  Even this step, I know I could be better at. I know that when I am going through an extra stressful time I should get checked more. Sometimes I let it slide and wait for my regular check up. Ideally, I want my nervous system clear all the time. So...there is another item for my list.

One thing I love about Life By Design is that it is never ‘done.’ Everyday you can be better. Your body can be stronger, smarter, more mobile, more resilient and more extraordinary. No matter where you are on the spectrum. Step 1 or step 140,203 your Life By Design journey can still be a fun adventure in constant and never ending improvement. And the community here will support you every step of the way.

It is no wonder we all get so excited for the 30-day challenge.

What are you focusing on for this challenge?  How are you doing?  We would love to hear about some of your wins and challenges.
