
I am often surprised with how quickly people expect change in their body to occur. I know we live in a society where most things happen instantly. You can send a message to a person in Japan and they get it in seconds, you can get directions at the push of a button, food delivered hot in minutes and all of the lovely conveniences of the modern world, but, seriously, there are still things that take time folks!
There is a reason why drugs that work really quickly to alter the state of your body have side effects (other than the fact that they are toxic and do not contribute to health) your body just does not work that way.
Does it make sense that conditions that took years or decades of stress accumulation to manifest should take a week or two to disappear? No. It would be really nice if they did, but the reality is that you need to be patient with your body.
Interestingly, as your system is moving towards better function, it can also feel worse. Kicking a long held sugar habit can have some unpleasant symptoms (we call this the carb flu). Fortunately, symptoms do not always mean damage or injury. If anything, in the case of detoxifying, the symptoms are a sign that it is working! Your body is doing what is does best, getting healthy and naturally shifting to a state of elevated function.
What science is showing us is that it can take over a year for the gut of a child to heal once damaging grain proteins are removed from the diet.
In an adult who has spent 40, 50, 60 or more years consuming grains daily, you should expect this process to be at least as long. It may help for you to think of it as being similar to scar tissue. Even when the cut is gone, it can take a long time for the scar to fade and for things to go back to normal.
Many people who start eating By Design notice significant changes in how they feel, look and function very quickly. There are also lots of people who do not experience immediate or drastic changes in their body. If you are in this later group, be patient with your body. It is working.
Taking toxins out of your body and giving your body the nutrients that it needs makes you healthier. Every time. It is working.
Eating By Design always works. It is our expectation of how it will feel while it is working that needs to be reevaluated. Start looking for other signs that you are in the process of healing. Your body is extraordinary and if you stay the course, you will reap the rewards.
